Greetings Metros,

I hope that this message finds you Coronavirus free and your supply of toilet paper adequate.

Some of you may have noticed that Jimmy Buffett has rescheduled several concerts and are wondering what’s up with Jones Beach.

The concerts that were affected were initially to take place in April and May.  Those concerts were rescheduled for June.

No announcements have been made with respect to the August concerts but in that they are more than 4 months away, there is probably no need to do anything now.

Besides, if we’re still social distancing in August, we’ll have a lot more to worry about than concert tickets.

That said, even though we may be canceling club events, like the St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl,  Fins and Pins and happy hours for the next month or so, the Board of Directors is still making plans for the pre-concert tailgate as well as the Beach Blast on August 30.  More about those coming soon.

Being that it’s five weeks away, we’re quite not ready to cancel the road clean-up on April 25th. It’s outdoors and volunteers can practice social distancing all along the 2-1/2 mile stretch of road. Each pointy stick is about 3′ long so it should be easy to measure off 6’.  In other words, if you’re within poking distance, you’re too close.    The after clean-up gathering could be an issue, but we could always pack a cooler and go to the beach or a park. So, let’s keep it on the calendar for now.

But I digress.  At this point, I’m still collecting checks for concert tickets and self-addressed, stamped envelopes.

Tickets cost $100 each.  Please make checks payable to: Metro Parrot Head Club.

Checks and self-addressed, stamped envelopes should be mailed to:

Joe Lombardi
P.O. Box 8
Wainscott, NY. 11975

That’s it for now except, be safe and please remember to wash your hands.

Fins way up,

metrojoe

  • 23OctRoad CleanupCome join your fellow METRO Chain Gang Members on as we conclude our 29th
year of service by cleaning litter along Route 114 between East Hampton and
    Sag Harbor.
The road clean up is the preeminent community service activity of our club. We
were the first club in the nation to adopt a highway. It’s the event really that
put the METRO Parrot Head Club on Jimmy Buffett’s radar as this is the road
that Jimmy takes to get from his home in Sag Harbor to East Hampton Airport.
As usual, we’ll gather in the parking lot of the King Kullen Supermarket in the
Bridgehampton Commons at 10 AM. Then it's off to Route 114 where litterbags
and pointy sticks will be handed out and road sections to clean will be assigned.
Afterwards we’ll head over to Sag Harbor where the annual Harbor Fest will be
taking place. There’ll be all kinds of activities taking place on the Long Wharf.
Reserve your pointy stick. RSVP to metrojoe@optonline.net
Remember, many hands make light work. We can always use your help.
