Road Cleanup10:00 am - 12:00 amCome join your fellow METRO Chain Gang Members on Saturday, September 12 as we conclude our 28th year of service de-littering the shoulders of Route 114 between East Hampton and Sag Harbor. The road clean up has been the preeminent community service activity of our club for many years. We were the first club in the nation to adopt a highway and it’s the event that put the METRO Parrot Head Club on Jimmy Buffett’s radar! He really appreciates that we have taken care of a road near his home for all these years and has often acknowledged us from the stage on more than one occasion. We’ll gather in the parking lot of the King Kullen Supermarket in the Bridgehampton Commons at 10 AM. It’s important that you RSVP so that Metro Joe can put together a list of volunteers, set up teams assign sections of the road to clean. Volunteers will make their way to their individual sections and he will stop by and deliver pointy sticks and bags. Let Metro Joe know if you can make by responding to metrojoe@optonline.net When we’re done, we’re going to try something different. Rather than head into Sag Harbor, weather permitting, we will make our way to Northwest Harbor County Park to enjoy some time at a very secluded beach. It’s a bit of a walk through the dunes from the parking area, but it’s well worth it. It should be easy to maintain social distancing over of 2.5 mile stretch of road, but bring masks just in case. Work gloves and sensible shoes are also needed. Remember, many hands make light work and we can always use your help. Bridgehampton Commons2044 Montauk Hwy
